We’re looking at death all wrong. Here’s why. | BJ Miller, MD

These days, for the most part, the concept of death is consumed by health care and medicine. However, as humans we need to view death as more than just a medical event. It takes into account our psychology, spirituality, philosophy, social worlds, and personal lives. This reconsideration should also apply to the way we treat people who are dying. BJ Miller, MD, is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where he practices and teaches palliative medicine. He has been profiled in The New York Times Magazine, and interviewed on Super Soul Sunday, The Tim Ferriss Show, and On Being with Krista Tippett, and has spoken at the Aspen Ideas Festival and around the world.
