Why (some) great employees fail after a promotion


Why are so many companies filled with people out of their depth? It could be the “Peter Principle” — when competent workers are promoted until they reach a role they can no longer handle. Here are 3 ways to prevent it: 1. Offer support: Leaders aren’t born overnight. Provide training and resources to help new leaders thrive. 2. Embrace the challenge: Growth comes from being tested. Push your team (or yourself) to find and develop new competencies. 3. Course correct: If someone is struggling in a new role, don’t write them off.
