But in order to be a fair and just country that truly practices equal opportunity, we have to do something to address the racial education inequality so that everyone has access to the job and income they desire. That's why when Danette Howard was six years old, her mom decided to go back to school. Although her mom was in school for almost a decade, Danette notes that when you're the first to get a college degree in your family, it doesn't only change your life, but everyone that comes after you. It's not enough that just some of us have access to these credentials. Everyone should have the opportunity to determine the path that is best for him or her, just like Danette's mom did.
